For those of you who don’t know, Christmas is my favourite time of the year. This is of course besides any time during the year I get to go to the Okanagan.
There is so much joy around the holidays, everyone is happy. Between family get togethers, Christmas parties, baking – all the baking, lights, decorations, dinners, family traditions — What is not to love?
When the idea came up to do a Christmas wedding inspiration session, my first thought was ‘I need to do photos at a tree farm’. I had a vision of this beautiful backdrop of spruce trees on spruce trees, I don’t think anyone would of been able to change my mind on that. Luckily everyone else loved the idea as well! After meeting with Dawn from Dazzle by Dawn, and Nicolle from Key Event Planning, our ideas combined quickly and we had this beautiful session in the making. We had a wonderful team of local vendors come together and it most certainly would not of been the same with out them. We were very excited when this stylized session was featured in Rocky Mountain Bride after all the work that everyone put into it.
The setting was a winter wonderland with the snow and all the evergreens, it was beautiful to photograph! After this, I am definitely recommending more brides have a winter wedding!
Inspiration from our lovely designer, Dawn: “Taking cues from the setting, a historic log building in rural Alberta, this styled shoot merged rustic country with wintery warmth. Evergreens, woolly plaids and soft lighting combined with simple wood chairs, coal oil lanterns and vintage lace acknowledged the festive season while evoking a cozy romance. From individual place setting favours to bespoke cake, gingerbread was incorporated to create a sense of nostalgia and provide a touch of whimsy — besides who doesn’t love gingerbread cookies?
There is nothing more beautiful than an outdoor wintery setting complete with a cluster of evergreens as a backdrop for a winter wedding. The bride’s vintage style dress was gorgeous and was complemented with a large bouquet of cedar, winter berries and ivory roses.”
